Communications is Key

The definition of communication is to "use words effectively to impart information." There are 2 parts of signifcance in the definition 1) that information was conveyed and 2) that it was done effectively. More projects fail for reasons relating to communication than any other.

    System Understanding/Requirements

    While it is not uncommon for "users" to miss the goals inherent in the requirements phase, it is imperative for IT to help them understand. It can not be left to chance that the "tech speak" for requiremetns did not gain the attention of the would be user, NOR can the tech team bury the users with analysis requests. This is business and we must be effecient.

    Progress

    The sooner we know there is an issue with progress the sooner we can give it the attention it deserves. Anyone who hides progress information is wrong... If there is a problem, share it now and demonstrate the ability to fix it.
